Ayanabh brings with him over two and half decades of healthcare experience. He has been part of the founding team at Medica where he played an instrumental role in conceptualising the enterprise, raising several rounds of private equity funds (ICICI Ventures, Quadria Capital, DEG, Swedfund Temasek) and finally in the evolution of Medica into an integrated healthcare organisation, which through its network of speciality hospitals and high performance teams have tirelessly worked towards bringing the best in healthcare to east of India, which still continues to be one of the most under served regions in the country.
Continuing it’s endeavour to make healthcare more accessible and affordable to the masses, Medica’s healthcare advisory practice, under his watch created footprints in over a dozen developing and under developed countries across Asia & Africa, all while working on initiatives focused on sustainable means of strengthening local healthcare delivery systems, supported by various multilateral donor organisations like World Bank, UKAID, USAID, Unicef, WHO, OXFAM, GTZ, KFW, IFC etc.
Prior to Medica, Ayanabh was a part of the core team at Narayana Health for over half a decade wherein he was involved in commissioning and management of several large hospitals of the group, including the 600 bed Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences (RTIICS) at Kolkata and 1000 bed Narayana Hrudayalaya in Bangalore. At Narayana Health, he also had the unique opportunity to be a part of the team that conceptualised and implemented the Yesashaswini Scheme, India’s first community based health insurance model and the Integrated Telemedicne & Tele Health project, a network of Tele-medicine units that was supported by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) across Karnataka, West Bengal & North East.
He is an active member of Industry bodies like the CII, FICCI, ICC & BCCI, also a life member at Quality Council of India (QCI) & Association of hospital Administrators (AHA). Ayanabh is married to Richa DebGupta a senior healthcare professional, and they have a son, Siddharth, who is also an ardent equestrian.
Ayanabh holds a PhD from IIHMR, Jaipur from where he also completed his MBA in Health and Hospital Management. Ayanabh is a keen traveller and an avid photographer.
